Welcome to the Makerspace Community!

The Makerspace is a vibrant, student-run organization that fosters creativity, collaboration, and hands-on learning. It empowers both students and staff to bring their ideas to life, develop practical skills, and work on a variety of personal and academic projects.

By leveraging access to multiple spaces and tools, the Makerspace serves as a hub for innovation, providing a supportive environment where users can explore new technologies and methods under student leadership.

Why should you join the Makerspace?

Who We Are

If you are passionate about prototyping, making, or manufacturing, the Makerspace is the perfect place for you. It’s a collaborative environment where you can learn, create, and share ideas with fellow students. The Makerspace connects you with a community of like-minded individuals, allowing you to work on exciting personal projects, develop new skills, and gain hands-on experience—all while having fun and learning together.

How is the Makerspace different than the Makers Studio?

The Makers Studio focuses on providing basic tool training, but due to limited resources, it lacks the capacity for students to easily communicate and collaborate within the broader community at S&T. In contrast, the Makerspace is more than just a location—it’s a student-run community of makers dedicated to helping others advance their skills and knowledge. It offers a supportive environment where students can engage in more advanced projects and explore tools in depth, with access to additional resources outside of the Makers Studio. The Makerspace thrives on collaboration and peer learning, making it an ideal hub for those looking to go beyond the basics and truly immerse themselves in making.

Our History

Founded in 2018 the Makerspace has been providing a community for Makers to the S&T campus for many years. Before the Fall of 2024, the Makerspace operated as a physical space within the Interdisciplinary Engineering building, offering tools and fostering a maker community at S&T. However, with the development of the Makers Studio, the Makerspace has evolved from a single location into a broad, student-run community that leverages all available spaces and resources to support its members. This transition has allowed Makerspace to expand its reach, providing even greater opportunities for collaboration and innovation across campus.
